The picture quotes Edward R. Murrows, "We must remember always, that accusation is not proof, and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear, one of another, we will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason. If we dig deep into our history and our doctrine, we will remember we are not descended from fearful men. Not from men who dared to write, to speak, to associate, and to defend causes that were for the moment unpopular."
I believe this is an extremely important quote. Good Night and Good Luck I found to be a perfect movie to watch in mass communications. I've never before watched it but it provided insight into medias history during the red scare. It was almost pathetic how people were so frightened of anything to do with communism. Grown adults made up accusations or repeated rumors that resulted in quite a few people being fired from their jobs, imprisoned, or generally speaking had their reputations ruined. I dont think the United States history and actions during the red scare are positive, they seem to be more embarrassing and naive then anything.
